  • 45 beds
  • Solely covered by the Hospitalist Service
  • Daily multi-disciplinary rounds with Case Management and the Physicians
  • Specializes in general care of the adult patient with a wide variety of diseases and conditions ([link removed], Pancreatitis, Acute Renal Failure, GI Bleeds, Acute Respiratory Failure, COPD/Emphysema, Asthma, and Sepsis—just to name a few)
  • Patient and family centered care
  • Nurse patient ratio 1:6

As a nurse on 8 Medical you gain a broad base of knowledge about each body system and how they function together as a whole. It is holistic nursing at its best. Medical in itself is a specialty. You must know many diagnoses at a shallow depth which gives you the opportunity to experience much and to utilize much of the knowledge gained from your education in nursing.

Work Schedule

72hrs biweekly; rotating with every other weekend and holidays.  Call is required.
 
Required Education

At least a two-year associate’s degree from an accredited school in nursing.
