Job Responsibilities of the ICU RN:

  • Demonstrates clinical competency to practice within the unit Scope of Care.
  • Organizes and prioritizes nursing care for a unit specific patient assignment.
  • Administers all medications utilizing the 5 rights to medication administration.
  • Demonstrates competency in patient teaching and discharge planning including family and/or significant other in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members.
  • Communicates effectively with staff, peers, supervisors, ancillary department, internal and external customers.
  • Utilizes quality improvement as basis to improve unit/departmental process.
  • Pursues professional growth and development.
  • Maintains unit readiness for regulatory surveys.
  • Assumes accountability for decisions and actions.
  • Contributes to the smooth operation of the unit.
  • Acquires and maintains current knowledge pertinent to AACN nursing standards of practice.
  • Ensures Patient/Family Centered Care is provided in the department.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
  • Provides direct nursing care, in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of SRMC.
  • Exhibits nursing characteristics of the Synergy Model as outlined in the Nursing Strategic Plan: Clinical Judgment/Advocacy/moral agency, Caring Practices, Collaboration, Systems thinking, Response to diversity, Clinical inquiry/innovator/evaluator, Facilitator of learning of patient/family educator.

Qualifications and Education for the ICU RN:

  • Required Graduate of an accredited school or professional nursing. Preferred- BSN degree or currently enrolled in BSN Program
  • Preferred - 2 years experience as a nurse in an acute care hospital environment.
  • Currently licensed as an RN in Virginia or a compact license.
  • BLS healthcare provider, ACLS within 6 months of hire.

Compensation and Benefits for the Intensive Care Unit RN:

  • Salary: $29.94-$44.91, depends on experience.
  • Sign on bonus/relo up to $10k.
  • Shift diff of $5.00 for nights, $4.00 for weekend day, $8.00 for weekend nights.
  • Matching 401(k) contributions ranging from 3-9%.
  • PTO starting at 4 weeks per year.

Director of Surgical Services – Richmond, VA

Job Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse (RN) Director of Surgical Services:

  • The Director of Surgical Services Department leads the perioperative team by focusing on safe patient care while effectively managing operations. The Director Surgical Services has 24/7 responsibility for their departments.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Accurately identifies real/potential problems affecting the service and implements solutions with follow through and communication.
  • Actively participates in service, departmental and hospital wide committees as assigned.
  • Advances the customer experience in Surgical Services.

People:

  • Coaches subordinates providing feedback; constructive critique of work; facilitates individual development plan; and documents their job performance.
  • Adheres to all Human Resource policies.
  • Effectively communicates departmental, organization and industry information to staff.
  • Facilitates evidence-based employee engagement practices.
  • Effectively builds strong relationships and networks to deliver upon organizational and department goals.
  • Participate in employee and patient rounding. Identifies and mentor potential future leaders.

Quality:

  • Enforces standards of care for surgical services and develops processes to measure and ensure consistent compliance.

  • Monitors compliance with regulatory, accrediting and hospital policy, environmental, patient, and personnel safety.
  • Oversees a PI program that consistently monitors and evaluates critical aspects of care.

  • Follows the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Blood borne and Airborne Pathogens.
  • Enforces safe procedural site and patient verification policy.
  • Monitors and responds to quality event reporting.

Finance:

  • Supports new program strategies and/or program enhancements which would expand patient services.
  • Develops, prioritizes, and defends a capital equipment requests.
  • Is responsible for the fiscal management of department; assures proper utilization of organization s financial resources.

Compensation and Benefits for the Registered Nurse (RN) Director of Surgical Services:

  • Salary: $110k-176k, depending on years of experience.
  • Sign on bonus and relo available.
  • Yearly bonus based on performance up to 15% of salary.

Qualifications for the Registered Nurse (RN) Director of Surgical Services:

  • Virginia RN license or compact license acceptable.
  • BLS required.
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) preferred.
  • Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) preferred.
  • BSN required, master s degree preferred.
  • Three plus years in a leadership role; prefer OR nursing experience.
  • Responsible for 19 OR s.
  • Average 30-35 cases per day.
