A progressive and independent school seeks a full-time, afterschool, overnight, and per diem School Nurse. Under the supervision and working alongside the head School Nurse, the School Nurse is responsible for the health and welfare of the students and staff during their attendance at school, and serves as a liaison to parents, faculty and students on health and wellness issues.

We offer full time, afterschool, per diem, and overnight field trips.
Duties & Responsibilities:
o Provide healthcare for students and staff with acute illness, chronic illness injury during the school day.
o Administer medications and treatments as indicated and prescribed by a healthcare provider.
o Collaborate with the school psychologists to assess students physically and emotionally and take appropriate steps to address student health needs.
o Maintain health office in clean, orderly and safe condition with special attention to confidential information, inventory management, and safe disposal procedures.
o Utilize clinical judgment in providing case management services.
o Provide leadership in promoting health and safety, including a healthy school environment.
o Administer first aid and CPR training for the faculty and staff.
o Ensure Health Office and Emergency packs are all up to standard and stocked with supplies.
o Teach Health and Wellness to all Grades as appropriate.
o Liaise with Community Health Centres
o Update and submit to the School’s website Health Resource Board
Health Policies & Records
o Maintain log to record information regarding visits to the nurse’s office via Magnus Health.
o Manage school health records via Magnus Health.
o Maintain accurate medical records to assure compliance with state and city mandates and Department of Daycare; including immunizations, physical examinations, communicable diseases, and medical conditions.
Education and Experience
o Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of New York
o Current AED & CPR certification
o Mandated Reporter Trained
o Infection Control Certified
o Experience in school, pediatric or public health nursing
o Exercise professional judgment in making decisions.
o Demonstrate a genuine interest in the student population and its health needs.
o Demonstrate sensitivity, good judgment and confidentiality in working with students, and parents.
o Communicate appropriately and effectively with students, parents, administrators, faculty, and other school personnel.
o Remain calm and courteous under pressure.
o Highly motivated with outstanding interpersonal skills.
o Strong organizational and time management skills.
o Computer and various software applications.
